7 Days Tanzania Migration Safari

Safari summary

This 7 days safari is customized to exploring what happens in the world’s largest animal movement; annual wildebeest migration from Tanzania to Masai Mara reserve In the Republic of Kenya. It is the great migration where over 2 million wildebeests, accompanied by thousands of zebras, gazelles and other mammals depart Serengeti national park for fresh pasture and water.

The safari takes you to Lobo area in the north of central Serengeti; and the wagakuria; the remote northern area of the park. Following the animal movement is on mobile tents as these movement is day and night. The most dramatic part of the migration is when they are crossing Mara River and other water bodies infested with crocodiles and hippos. It is a movement where no one animal is guaranteed the next day. The trip starts and ends in Arusha Tanzania.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arusha international airport to Ngorongoro crater

Upon landing at Arusha international airport, our company driver guide will meet and greet you. There will be a briefing in regards to what will transpire during these 7 days tour, and thereafter a 4-5 hour Journey starts with the view of the rolling hills, busy towns, and lush vegetation. You will arrive at your lodge for check-in and Lunch, and thereafter you head to the crater where you will descend to the wildlife hideout.

Ngorongoro crater is habitat to a large concentration of animals notably; the zebras, elephants, gazelles, buffaloes, cheetah, jackals, hyenas, ever-elusive leopards, hippos, flamingoes, eland’s warthogs and more.  You will have a great time at the crater inclusive watching the sunset before you return to the lodge for a nap after dinner.

Day 2: Ngorongoro to Serengeti central

First thing at day break will be greeting your intestines with a cup of coffee in the wild. Watch and take photo of the beautiful sunrise. After, get to the lodge for a transfer to Serengeti national park; the heart of Africa’s wildlife viewing. You will enjoy the view of the endless plains, the movement of the wildebeests, gazelles, giraffes, zebras, and more.  Lunch will be enroute, and when the day ends, you will pinch a camp, enjoy campfire, dinner and a nap.

Day 3: Full day in Serengeti central

Start your day with a cup of coffee, and thereafter, spend the 8 hours of the day watching the migrants head north through the Lobo area. You will keep your eyes on the endless plains, and lush vegetation. Keep following the migration until sun fall, uncovering the behavior of the animals, what they eat and how they beat obstacles.

Over 2 million wildebeests participate in this movement and are directed by crowds. You will have picnic lunch, and then return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Seronera area exploration

After breakfast, you will spend watching the migrants around the Lobo area as well as Grumeti River. We also meet the non-migrants such as herds of elephants, buffaloes, warthogs, lions, leopards, cheetahs and more. It is great place for game viewing. You will have a picnic Lunch and then return to the lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Explore the central and Northern Serengeti

After breakfast, you will head far north to wagakuria area with an enroute game drive. Expect the sight and sound of different bird species, giraffes, herd of elephants, Buffaloes, and more. Lunch will be at the lodge, and thereafter an evening game drive where you will follow the migrants till the time they congregate to sleep. In this region is where the migrants have to face their toughest obstacle-the Mara River. At sunset, drive to your lodge for dinner and a nap.

Day 6: Explore Northern Serengeti

After having your bush breakfast, you will proceed with the game drive around the northern part of Serengeti national park. The wagakuria are has a large concentration of wildlife, inclusive lions. It is that point of the migration where the migrants are very attentive, and have tough obstacles to face such as the kopjes, riverine vegetation, woodland and the Mara River.

It is often the climax point of the migration and the animals tend to spend days here as to wait for other migrants and also gain the courage of crossing the river. You will have picnic Lunch and dinner at the lodge in the sunset. Retire at your lodge at the days viewing.

Day 7: Departure

After breakfast at the camp, you will depart the camp with an enroute game drive to kogatende airstrip to Arusha airport where our driver guide will meet and bid you farewell to the next destination. In case your flight is late, then you can go for lunch in Arusha and also have a city tour to the art shops.
